Mob Spotlight: Strata Golem

Hello, and welcome to another Mob Spotlight! I'm your host Artiro and let's start digging into the dangers lurking within the Strata Golem!

Spawning and Game Mechanics

The Strata Golem spawns in a sleeping state where it is burrowed underground; this makes it a threat to unsuspecting players as the golem will wake up and ambush them! The strata golem spawns in arid regions, so you better be careful! These arid biomes include:

• The Desert
• The Savanah
• The Mesa

Attacks and Drops

The Strata Golem has three unique attacks never seen before in any vanilla mob, which makes it even more challenging and deadly to fight, these are:

• Rolling attack: where the strata golem curls and chase you down (in this state they are immune to damage)
• Boulder throw: the strata golem hurls a strata boulder at you
• Ground pound: the strata golem jumps to the sky and stomp the ground with a large force causing the earth to shake, blocks to fly and you to be frozen in place for a few seconds

A melee or explosive weapon is required to defeat this foe, as it is immune to projectile damage. These weapons can be but are not limited to:

• Swords
• Axes
• Spears
• Dynamite

Like most mobs after the strata golem is killed it drops, these drops include:

• Strata Gauntlet
• Strata Block
• Dead Bush
• Bones
• Raw Gold
• Raw Iron

One of these drops from the list above was the strata gauntlet. This is a weapon that allows you to wield the power of the strata golem! By right clicking with the gauntlet in hand, you can replicate the 'boulder throw' that you might've experienced firsthand while fighting the golem. Unfortunately, the gauntlet can't be enchanted, meaning that it will eventually run out of durability and disappear.

Tips and Trivia

Did you know that you could defeat a strata golem by spamming a bow with the explosive enchant? This was easily the best method prior to it's nerf, making it a hilarious and effective way to cheese the mini-boss.

When blighted biomes eventually release, the strata golem will be converted into the 'ashen golem' and be removed from normal arid biomes, making it exclusive to the blighted arid biome soon to come. This will not effect it's current attacks or mechanics, but give it a visual overhaul to fit the corrupted 'feel' of blighted biomes.

In order to be fully equipped to defeat the strata golem, we suggest a minimum requirement of diamond or even platinum armor with a previously mentioned melee weapon. If you want to feel safe while fighting, we at Origin Realm News suggest enchanting your gear and applying relics to platinum gear that you have.
